Wednesday, March 15, 2006; Day 1

 

TLW be able to use vocabulary related to the city.

 

1) Hand out individual grade sheets.

     New seating arrangement. (10 min)

2) Go through Chapter 10 vocabulary 1 on OT (30 min - 40)

3) Do Act. 1, 2, 3 with partner. (35 min – 1:15)

4) Assign PW 10-1, 10-2.

 

Thursday, March 16, 2006; Day 2

 

1) Review vocabulary using OT 51. (10 min)

2) Trade and grade PW 10-1, 10-2. (10 min – 20)

3) Put class in teams of four. Each team gets a dry erase board. Play pictionary. Team has 15 sec. to guess word. If team does not guess correctly, next team clockwise gets chance to steal. Different person must draw each time. Winning team gets prize. (25 min - 45)

4) Have everyone create sentences saying where they were going and why on three different days of the week.

            Voy a la tienda de regalos para comprar un regalo el lunes.

     When all students have three sentences, then need to ask other students where they are going on a certain day of the week. They need to keep going until they have one sentence for each day of the week if they can.

            Q: Adonde va el domingo.

            A. No voy a ninguna parte.

5) Assign the Capítulo 10 Vocabulario Actividad worksheet. (15 min – 1:30)

 

Friday, March 17, 2006; Day 3

 

TLW be able to use vocabulary related to the city.

 

1) Trade and Grade worksheet (do not compare!) (10 min)

2) Take vocabulary quizzes 1 & 2 (15 min - 25)

3) Using slide show, go through the next vocabulary. (30 min – 55)

4) Do act 9, 10, 11 p. 324-5 with partner. (20 min - 1:25)

5) Assign PW 10-3, 10-4.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday, March 20, 2006; Day 4

 

TLW be able to use vocabulary related to the city.

 

1) Translate these sentences: (20 min)

            1) I did a lot yesterday.

            2) First, I went to the bank and took out $200.00

            3) Then I wen to the library to return a book.

            4) I sent a letter at the post office.

            5) Last night, I went for a walk and I saw a basketball game.

2) Do quiz corrections. (15 min - 35)

3) Compare, then trade and grade PW 10-3, 10-4. (15 min - 50)

4) Watch chapter 10 video. Make a list of where Alexander went and how he got there and what he did there. (15 min – 1:05)

5) Do comm. act 10 -1, half class gets A other half B. Fill in the “yo” sections then discuss rules/directions. They must find a partner with opposite page - sit back to back, must fill out and hand in. (25 min - 1:30)

 

Tuesday, March 21, 2006; Day 5

 

TLW be able to use vocabulary related to the city.

 

1) Have everyone think of a building in Schuyler and say where it is located. (5 min)

2) With partner, practice activities on http://www.quia.com/web in the writing lab. Students will have half the class to try out at least three different activities and write a brief summary of the activity and if they felt it was useful.

3) Take vocabulary quiz.

4) What happens when you have a + el together in a sentence? They combine to al Abran los libros a la página 331, lea la caja de de + el. Complete activity 1 p. 332 on own. Students only create sentences saying where something is located. La farmacia está al lado del hotel. (15 min - 20)

5) Discuss the “treasure hunt” Place students in groups. On Monday, students will have 45 minutes to write and place cards, then they will receive another group’s first card and race to complete. If anyone is caught messing around, they will have a detention.

     Additional words to use: doblen, siguen derecho, hasta, miren, arriba, abajo de, atrás de, por (#) pasos.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday, March 22, 2006; Day 7

 

TLW be able to give and follow directions.

 

1) Students get in their treasure hunt groups to write and place cards. (45 min - 1:05)

 

2) Have the rest of the time to find cards. (25 min)

 

Thursday, March 23, 2006; Day 8

 

TLW be able to use -ar verbs in the preterit tense.

 

1) Ask ¿Cómo se dice? with vocab. Then do quiz corrections. (20 min)

2) When doing quiz corrections, have first five sentences of the -ar verb preterite tense slide show projected. When done doing corrections, students translate. Go through entire slide show. (45 min - 1:05)

3) With partner, complete PW 10-7, 10-8, discuss in class. do not grade. (20 min - 1:25)

4) Assign El pretérito de verbos que terminan en -ar wkst.

 

 

Friday, March 24, 2006; Day 9 (12:15 dismissal)

 

TLW be able to use -ar verbs in the preterit tense.

 

1) On OT do fill in the blank: (10 min)

            1) Yo (sacar) un libro.

            2) Juana (cerrar) el libro.

            3) Tú no (prestar) el libro.

            4) Los estudiantes me (comprar) un libro

            5) Nosotros no (mirar) el libro.

 

2) Compare, then trade and grade El pretérito de verbos que terminan en -ar wkst ( 15 min - 25)

 

3) Use dry erase boards to complete about 20 preterite tense forms. (20 min - 45)

 

4) Ask each other, ¿Qué hiciste ayer? (What did you do yesterday?) Answer must be given with an -ar verb. Ask 10 people, writing what others did. Try to write as few sentences as possible. (30 min - 1:15)

 

5) Assign students to call my house and leave a message telling me three things they did today. They may not use “fui.”

 

 

 

 

 

Monday, March 27, 2006; Day 10

 

TLW be able to use -ar verbs in the preterite tense. TLW be able to use the preterite of the verb ir- to go.

 

1) Translate sentences on OT. (15 min)

2) Take preterit of –ar quiz. (20 min - 35)

3) When done with quiz, state on place you went to yesterday. Students should use the verb fui. Then go through the conjugation chart of the verb ir. (15 min - 50)

4) Complete the FITB on the OT. (10 min - 60)

5) Complete act. 5 p. 336 with partner, then have students write out answers on act. 6 p. 337. (15 min - 1:15)

6) Complete comm. act 10-3. (10 min - 1:25)

7) Assign PW. 10-9.

Ø    Tell students that if they have vacation photos that they would like to use for a class project then they need to bring them tomorrow.

 

Tuesday, March 28, 2006;

TLW demonstrate an understanding of Day of the Dead activities.

 

Wednesday, March 29, 2006; Day 11

TLW be able to use the preterit of the verb ir- to go.

 

1) Play one round of verb board races. (15 min - 30)

2) Do -ar verb quiz corrections. (15 min - 45)

3) Students tell one place they went yesterday. All students will go. (15 min - 1:00)

4) Compare, then trade and grade PW 10-9 (10 min - 1:10)

5) Students will ask each other the question: Where did you go yesterday. After asking questions, student will write four sentences: (20 min - 1:30)

     1) Where you (yourself) went.

     2) Say where one other person went.

     3) Say where two people went. (same place)

     4) Say where you and another person went. (same place.)

 

Thursday, March 30, 2006; Day 12

 

TLW be able to use ir in the preterit tense.

 

1) Complete FITB OT with verb ir. Students must also translate sentences. (15 min)

2) Take quiz (20 min - 35)

3) Allow students to work on vacation photo album.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Friday, March 31, 2006; Day 13

 

TLW be able to use the preterite of the verb ir.

 

1) Hand piece of paper to the first person in each row. They write a subject word, next writes the correct form of ir, next finishes the sentence. Do quiz corrections. (20 min)

2) Go through what will be on the chapter test. (10 min - 30)

            listening comprehension         5 points

            speaking #2     10 pts.

 

3) Do the review slide show.
